Members of the Anti-corruption Council under the MoD will be re-elected soon, this time they will be elected not for one year but for two. It is expected that this decision will ensure more stable and long-term work of the Anticorruption Council, contributing to more effective implementation of anti-corruption measures in the defense sector.
Yevhen Hrushovets, the head of the Anti-corruption Council under the MoD, thinks that it’s the right decision as every member of the Council will have more time to implement the assigned tasks. He says that it is also a good chance to make a contribution to Ukraine’s victory. However, it is also quite challenging for the future members themselves as it’s a volunteer work which requires lots of time, energy and effort.
The Public Anti-Corruption Council was established under the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine in April 2023. This independent body was created following a high-profile scandal involving the Ministry’s food procurement, which drew significant attention to corruption risks in the defence sector. One of the Council’s key tasks is to enhance public oversight of the defence procurement. The creation of the Council under the Ministry of Defence was an unprecedented step and aimed to demonstrate transparency and openness in the defence procurement process. NAKO's executive director Olena Tregub is one of the elected members of the Anti-Corruption Council under the Ministry of Defence.
