The South Korean government is ready to review its policy on arms supplies to Ukraine. This was stated by a representative of the Office of the President of the Republic. The statement was made against the backdrop of Russia and the DPRK signing an agreement with mutual obligations to provide immediate military assistance in the event of external aggression.
Previously, Seoul supported Ukraine only in humanitarian and financial terms. Now South Korea is ready to discuss the supply of lethal weapons. The volume of supplies will be directly affected by the future relations between Russia and North Korea. Among the potential types of weapons that Ukraine could receive, the Korean media mention 155-mm artillery shells and air defense systems.
The importance of cooperation between Kyiv and Seoul was also emphasized by NAKO Executive Director Olena Tregub during a recent advocacy trip to South Korea.
