Several hundred Ukrainian servicewomen are now captured by russia.
It was reported by Ukrinform with a link to Bohdan Okhrimenko and Viktoriia Tsymbaliuk, representatives of the Coordination Headquarters on Treatment of the Prisoners of War.
The Ukrainian part also demands russia to comply with the Geneva Conventions and return the servicewoman outside any exchanges. Currently, at least several hundred Ukrainian servicewomen are known to be held in russian captivity, the Coordination HQ informs.
“Ukraine complies with the Geneva Conventions. the russian servicewomen who became POWs were repatriated. We demand the same from the russian part: to return the female POWs unconditionally and outside any exchanges,” Ukrinform quotes the representative of the Coordination HQ, Viktoriia Tsymbaliuk.
Ms. Tsymbaliuk claims that unlike servicewomen the number of female civilians kept in russia is unknown. At the same time, the authorities make efforts to find out this data and help women return home. The Coordination HQ refers to returning over 300 Ukrainian children as an interim result.
