Independent Defence Anti-Corruption Committee is currently seeking a Ukrainian member. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about integrity and accountability in the defence sector, and has a proven track record of leadership and expertise in this area. There are six members of the NAKO, three nationals and three internationals. We are currently seeking a Ukrainian member of NAKO, and are particularly seeking a candidate with journalistic experience.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Extensive professional experience, with significant leadership accomplishments investigative journalism or anti-corruption
- A proven commitment to integrity, accountability and anti-corruption
- Strong diplomatic skills and an ability to cultivate relationships and work with a diverse group of stakeholders
Our expectations of the members is that they will:
- Contribute to NAKO’s strategy, workplan, and activities
- Engage at senior levels of the Ukrainian government and defence establishment to advocate for proposed reforms
- Review and approve NAKO research
- Work with staff to develop policy recommendations and monitor progress on commitments
- Represent NAKO to stakeholders and act as an ambassador for the organization
- Take part in four NAKO meetings throughout the year

The Committee includes three Ukrainian members, Sevgil Musaeva, Editor in Chief of Ukrayinska Pravda (to be replaced), Volodymyr Ogryzko, former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and former First Deputy Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine, and Oleh Rybachuk, former MP and Chief of Staff to the President, chairman of the NGO “Centre UA” and co-founder of the civil movement “Chesno”, and three international members, Lt Gen (ret.) Michel Yakovleff, former Vice Chief of Staff to Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe , Drago Kos, Chair of the OECD Working Group on Bribery in International Business Transactions, and James Wasserstrom, former Senior Advisor on Anti-Corruption at the US Embassy Kabul, and strategy advisor and lead anti-corruption officer at the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction. NAKO members were selected by a joint board of TI Ukraine and TI Defence & Security, following a public call for nominations.
