Olena raised the issue of corruption during the war and talked about Ukraine's successes in the fight against this corruption at the "Ukraine: 4 Fronts of War" conference in Paris.
In particular, it is about:
- A Minister of Defenсe was removed following a corruption scandal.
- All heads of military recruitment centers were replaced across the country following a mobilization corruption scandal
- Two new procurement agencies were launched
Olena also talked about the details of corporate reform of the defense industry:
"Due to the reform, UOP was transformed into a joint stock holding company with different clusters split by the domain (e.g., ammunition, aviation), with an overseeing supervisory board comprising six members – Ukrainians and partner country nationals. The corporate reform resulted in creating risk management compliance mechanisms, whistleblowing policy, and an anti-corruption hotline," -stressed the executive director of NAKO.
In addition, Olena emphasized the importance of Western aid for Ukraine. After all, if Ukraine loses the war, it will directly affect European countries' security and territorial integrity.
The conference was organized by Eastern Circles and the IHEDN Institute for Military Studies in collaboration with Diplomatie magazine.
