BITEC Initiative: Yemchura Lectured on the Role of NGOs in Increasing Transperency at MoD
On Friday 12th, October 2018, NAKO Analyst Taras Yemchura lectured on the non-governmental sector at the Chernyakhovsky National Defence University of Ukraine. In particular, he spoke about the role of the civil society in increasing transparency and integrity at the Ministry of Defence. The anti-corruption lectures are given in the framework of the BITEC initiative, where NAKO is a partner.

These events take place under the guidance of Oksana Kurylina, the Senior Researcher of the Center of Preventing Corruption in Defence and Security Sector at the Defence University. With the help of the BITEC (Building Integrity Training and Education Centre) initiative, NAKO contributes to change in Ukraine’s defence sector.

The goal of the BITEC Initiative is to deliver integrity building courses for security sector personnel and to teach investigatory techniques related to corruption. As a part of this initiative, NAKO has already provided a series of lectures to Ukrainian servicemen and servicewomen in the defence sector. Such events are especially important for Ukraine as they, for instance, open the channels for communication between the NGOs and the Ministry of Defence.
