BITEC Initiative: Dr. Roslycky Gave a Lecture on Increasing Transparency at the MoD
21 September 2018 NAKO Research and Advocacy Manager Dr. Lada Roslycky lectured at the Chernyakhovsky National University of Defence of Ukraine. Dr. Roslycky explained the role of NGOs as well as NAKO’s goals and advocacy aimed at reducing corruption risks in the defence sector of Ukraine. She also spoke about NAKO’s recent research on corruption risks in different areas, for instance, secrecy, defence procurement and defence housing.

The lectures are given in the framework of the BITEC initiative, where NAKO is a partner. With the help of the BITEC (Building Integrity Training and Education Centre) initiative, NAKO contributes to change in Ukraine’s defence sector. The goal of the BITEC Initiative is to deliver integrity building courses for security sector personnel and to teach investigatory techniques related to corruption. As a part of this initiative, NAKO has already provided a series of lectures to Ukrainian servicemen and servicewomen in the defence sector.

Such events are of special value for Ukraine as through NAKO they provide expert civil society with a chance to explain the role of NGOs in the defence sector and also opens the channels of communication between NAKO and the Ministry of Defence.
