Lt Gen (ret.) Michel Yakovleff Joins the Independent Defence Anti-corruption Committee
Lt. Gen (ret.) Yakovleff was appointed as an international member of the Independent Defence Anti-corruption Committee on October 1st, 2018. He replaced Timothy Evans. He started his 40 years of military service as a conscript in the French Army.  He served in France, Germany, Djibouti, and the Balkans, mostly with the French Foreign Legion.  His last seven years in service were with NATO. As representative of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, he sat on the Military Committee, and served two years at Joint Force Command Brunssum, where he was Deputy Chief of Staff - Plans, and later Chief of Staff. His last two years were spent at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, where he was Vice Chief of Staff. "I've met corruption and seen its ugly face in a number of countries, and I'm excited to join the NAKO committee to take part in combating it here. Corruption is the root cause of war. In the words of Charles Peguy, 'le vice fomente la guerre, et la vertu combat.'
