30 July 2018 the leading American think tank Atlantic Council published the article ‘Why It’s Too Soon to Celebrate Ukraine’s New National Security Law’. Its authors are NAKO Research and Advocacy Manager Dr. Lada L Roslycky and NAKO Secretary General Olena Tregub. According to the statement of the US State Department, “The law is consistent with Western principles” but the document leaves many things out. The article highlights the law weaknesses, how they can harm Ukraine’s national security and how civil society and international partners can help implement effective reforms.
