She stressed the importance of bipartisan support for Ukraine’s anti-corruption struggle, in particular when it comes to defence sector. Tregub pointed out some success stories within Ukraine’s defence and security such as the upcoming law on defence procurement, the ongoing reform of Ukroboronprom and strengthening of parliamentary oversight and the increasing role of the civil society in the oversight over defence spending in Ukraine.
A delegation of former ambassadors and high-level officials who remain key figures in the American foreign policy establishment has come to Ukraine to discuss ways forward for strong US-Ukrainian relations. The delegation consists of former US ambassadors to Ukraine John Herbst, Roman Popadiuk, and Steven Pifer. Ambassador Alexander Vershbow, former US ambassador to Russia, Ambassador Daniel Fried, former US ambassador to Poland, and Former Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Russia/Eurasia Dr. Celeste Wallander are also part of the delegation.
