Representatives of Ukrainian civil society met with the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State James O'Brien on 13 August 2024 at the US Embassy in Ukraine. NAKO Executive Director Olena Tregub took part in the meeting.
The meeting was focused on priority reforms in the security and defence sector that contribute to Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration:
- the activities of the Public Anti-Corruption Council at the Ministry of Defence,
- the work of procurement agencies — the State Logistics Operator and the Defence Procurement Agency,
- the corporatisation of state-owned defence companies.
"We are very grateful to the United States for the support it provides to Ukraine's civil society, which is now working for victory. In particular, for the support in implementing reforms that make the security and defence sector more transparent and efficient," said Olena Tregub.
