The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has appointed Natalia Kalmykova as the Minister for Veterans' Affairs. The decision was voted for by 256 MPs.
For the past ten years, Kalmykova has been working in the security and defence sector: first as a volunteer and head of the military department of the Come Back Alive Foundation, executive director of the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation, and then as Deputy Minister of Defence.
NAKO has been cooperating with Natalia Kalmykova since her time at Come Back Alive and the UVF. ‘We are pleased that an active representative of civil society now holds a ministerial position,’ says NAKO Executive Director Olena Tregub.
We are convinced that this appointment will significantly strengthen the Ministry of Veterans, and Kalmykova's experience and professional skills will contribute to the development of state policy in the field of rehabilitation and readaptation of veterans.
