The war in Ukraine will determine the future of Europe."If Ukraine does not receive proper help now if Russia advances even closer to Europe and seizes part of Ukraine, then it is only a matter of time before European youth will also be forced to take up arms and die in war," – emphasized the executive director of NAKO Olena Tregub.
As part of the annual Munich Security Conference, Tregub spoke on a panel about the role of young leaders in the future of Europe.
"Ukrainian young people in their twenties, like my friend «Juice» Andrii Pilshchykov, had to go to war to die for mistakes of older generation politicians who failed to deter Putin’s aggression." – noted Tregub.
Western politicians and active citizens should do everything in their power to help Ukraine win, Tregub stressed. In particular, she called for speeding up defense production, developing defense technologies in Europe, and strengthening anti-Russian sanctions.
“If Ukraine does not receive help from the West or does not receive enough, then Russia will attack even more actively and advance deep into Ukraine, and therefore closer and closer to the borders of the EU," Tregub is convinced.
In the panel аlso are participating experts: Icelandic Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Committee of Ministers Thordis Kolbrun Gylfadottir, the Bundestag Deborah member Düring, and Executive Director of the Institute for Security Studies Dr. Fonteh Akum.
Munich Security Conference has been a central international forum for debate on topics related to security policy for decades. Russia's war in Ukraine continues to be the focus of the conference.
