On 21–23 May 2026, the 21st GLOBSEC Forum took place in Prague, Czech Republic, under the theme “The Global Systemic Transformation.” The event brought together more than 2,400 participants from 80 countries, including NAKO Executive Director Olena Tregub.

Discussions focused on how Europe can adapt to a new global reality without cheap Russian energy, access to global markets, and unconditional security guarantees from the United States. Participants emphasised that Europe must act more independently and not rely on the United States to set the agenda.

Ukraine was mentioned on almost every panel at the GLOBSEC Forum, Olena Tregub noted. Partners are increasingly viewing Ukraine as “the strongest military power in Europe.” At the same time, she warned that this perception could weaken European countries’ motivation to support Ukraine, as it may create a false impression that sufficient assistance has already been provided.

She also pointed out that even during the panel titled “Victory for Ukraine,” there was no real discussion of victory itself — only negotiations and ending the war. According to her, this reflects a certain level of confusion among European partners. “Europe seems to think that Ukraine can fight this war for years. But for Ukrainians, every day of war means even more destruction,” Tregub said.

At the same time, Ukraine and Europe must act together to achieve a real victory over Russia. “We need a very practical outcome — joint production with Europe, so we can rapidly manufacture weapons at scale, strike Russia, and create unbearable conditions so it will finally want to end the war,” the NAKO Executive Director said.
