NAKO Executive Director Olena Tregub attended the 55th World Economic Forum. The Forum took place in Davos, Switzerland, from 20 to 24 January. The theme of the Forum was "Cooperation for the Intellectual Age".
According to Tregub, the participants of the event mainly discussed the prospects and directions of development of modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, cryptocurrencies, quantum computers, and their impact on the economy. "But that doesn't mean that the war in Ukraine, peace and security weren't discussed. It just didn't dominate. In particular, this year we talked about investment in Ukrainian defence technology and reconstruction," she said. At the initiative of Ukrainian activists and innovators, the forum hosted events dedicated to Ukraine's achievements in the defence sector. International investors have become interested in Ukrainian defence companies, which Olena sees as a positive trend.
The Executive Director of NAKO also noted the change in attitude towards Ukraine at the Forum. According to her, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was a real star for Forum participants and Davos residents, and his speech was quoted by local media.
Olena Tregub also noted the importance of the Ukraine House, calling it a symbolic "embassy" of Ukraine at the Forum. "Many people came there to take part in the events or just to express their support for our country. Only 30 countries in the world have such 'embassies' in Davos," she said.
Olena noted that today Ukraine is better integrated into the international space, and we are gradually being perceived as a partner open to cooperation. At the same time, she noted that this comes at the cost of the blood shed by the military and civilians in the war against Russia.
