The sanctions list includes five individuals and seven legal entities from Iran, China, and Hong Kong. In particular, they were purchasing key components for Iran's ballistic missile and UAV programme, such as accelerometers and gyroscopes. The manufactured weapons eventually ended up in the Middle East and Russia.
"Today's actions expose key front companies and proxies through which Iran sought to acquire these components. The United States will continue to impose sanctions on those who assist Iran in the production of these deadly weapons," said Brian Nelson, the US Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.
According to Ukrinform, the US sanctions include:
- China-based Beijing SNT
- Chinese Shenzhen Rion
- Iranian Electro Optic Sairan Industries
- Iranian-based Azmoon Pajohan Hesgar
As a reminder, NAKO experts, together with IPHR, have studied 10 Russian attacks involving Iranian Shaheds. Our experts found Western components in the drones used by Russia to terrorise the civilian population of Ukraine. The report on the results of this study contains comprehensive recommendations on sanctions and export controls.
