On October 17, the executive director of NAKO, Olena Tregub, attended a diplomatic event at the Netherlands embassy dedicated to discussing the sanctions policy. Alberto Fernandez-Diez, head of the trade and economic department of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, Euke Faber, the special representative for sanctions of the Netherlands, and representatives of diplomatic missions of various countries attended the event.

Olena Tregub presented 2 NAKO reports – dedicated to Western components in Russian fighter jets and North Korean missiles. Thus, the Independent Anti-Corruption Commission experts discovered chips of the Dutch company NXP, manufactured in 2021 and 2023, in North Korean weapons. In total, NAKO singles out 7 Dutch companies whose products are used in Russian and North Korean weapons.

The participants of the event discussed how to solve this problem. The Dutch authorities are already preparing a new law on sanctions—until recently, the country did not have modern sanctions legislation. Therefore, the Netherlands is grateful to civil society and NAKO, particularly for their help in this work. The key problem is that the sanctions against Russia are not global. For example, China and India do not observe restrictions; through these countries, the flow of Western microelectronics goes to Russia.
