A new quality control system for products supplied to Ukraine’s Defence Forces was presented during the Defence Talks discussion organized by the Independent Anti-Corruption Commission.
The new state quality assurance system came into force on 1 January 2026. Built in line with NATO standards, it is intended to move away from the Soviet-era model of total control characteristic of military inspection bodies. Instead, responsibility for product quality is shifted to manufacturers, while the state retains an inspection and oversight function. In a comment to Espreso, Yevhen Krasnikov, Head of the Main Department for State Quality Assurance, explained that the key difference of the new system lies in a revised approach to cooperation with manufacturers.
“Manufacturers should be guided toward the need to comply with quality standards, with greater attention paid to quality control processes and compliance with legal requirements. Attention should also be given to the experience of partner countries,” Viktor Byvalkevych, Deputy Director of the Department for Corruption Prevention and Detection at the Ministry of Defence, was quoted by Ukrinform as saying.
According to Mezha, participants in the discussion expressed hope for further development of the system and stronger coordination between institutions responsible for the quality of defence products.
