“Not all countries are as fast as Estonia” — expert on Ukraine-NATO joint exercises

Khartia

Last year’s joint exercises of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with NATO forces in Estonia revealed NATO units’ unpreparedness for modern warfare, according to a Wall Street Journal report. On Radio Khartia, Olena Tregub, Executive Director of NAKO, explained how a small group of Ukrainian UAV crews managed to “defeat” NATO units in a single day and what lessons can be drawn from this experience.

Trehub highlighted the gap between Western armies’ approaches to warfare and the experience Ukrainian troops have gained during Russia’s full-scale invasion:

“NATO still operates based on outdated manuals, and its system is designed for peacetime. Most of the people writing military doctrines, strategies, and manuals are in their European capitals. The involvement of these countries in our war is actually not as significant as it seems. Ukrainians, on the other hand, adapt daily, updating technologies and methods. This makes us more flexible and effective.”
