On 22 January 2025, the third meeting of the collegial body of the Ministry of Defence for the development of material support for the Armed Forces, in which the representative of NAKO and Deputy Head of the Public Anti-Corruption Council under the Ministry of Defence, Tetiana Nikolaienko, participates, was held.
The meeting focused on the revision of the technical specification for flight and technical uniforms. The meeting participants also drew attention to the situation regarding the technical specifications for military sports footwear, which are currently prescribed for one company. "Hypothetically, we could be looking at the purchase of 40,000 running shoes and we are very interested in the purpose of their use. That is why we are closely monitoring the changes in the specifications," says Tetiana Nikolaienko.
They also discussed the technical specifications for headphones, which Nikolaienko says are the subject of some lobbying. From now on, only headphones supplied by one or more NATO member states will be allowed. At the same time, the manufacturer will have to provide documents proving that the products meet US military standards, she explained.
Work is underway to introduce a standard for women's winter jackets, two samples of which will soon be submitted to the Central Quality Control Department for testing. "The testing of the women's winter jacket cannot be completed due to the lack of frost down to 20 degrees Celsius. At the same time, volunteers questioned the wisdom of sewing an insulated jacket instead of a two-layer jacket, which is often preferred by the military because it can be worn most of the year. However, representatives of the Logistics Forces Command noted that it can be cold in winter in this type of jacket," said Tetiana Nikolaienko.
The Ministry of Defence is also planning to discuss the use of body armour of a lower level of protection for military personnel who are not directly on the front line.
