In 2025, enterprises of JSC Ukrainian Defence Industry (Ukroboronprom) increased the production of weapons and military equipment by 1.5 times — from UAH 122 billion in 2024 to over UAH 180 billion in 2025. The growth was driven by expanded production capacities and higher workload at enterprises, the company reported. In particular, the number of state contracts in 2025 increased by more than 50%.
According to Ukroboronprom CEO Herman Smetanin, the unconditional priority is increasing deliveries of weapons and military equipment to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At the same time, he identified cooperation with educational institutions and the employment of veterans at defence enterprises as key human resources factors. Over the past year, the number of veterans employed by the company increased by 37% and now exceeds 1,000 people, Smetanin said.
The Ministry of Defence emphasized that it continues efforts to strengthen and further develop Ukraine’s defence-industrial complex as a technological backbone of the state and a guarantor of national security.
Ukroboronprom comprises 118 enterprises of Ukraine’s defence industry, 21 of which are located in temporarily occupied territories. In 2023, Ukroboronprom was transformed into the joint-stock company Ukrainian Defence Industry. NAKO supported the implementation of this reform over seven years, in particular by advocating for the adoption of the law on reforming the concern’s corporate governance, monitoring its implementation, and providing recommendations on anti-corruption measures.
