On 15 January, the United States imposed restrictions on Russia to eliminate sanctions evasion schemes. It extends secondary sanctions against companies cooperating with Russia's military-industrial complex. The list includes more than 150 legal entities and individuals.
A number of the sanctioned companies were identified by NAKO experts in our report "Wings of War: Analysing the Western Parts in Russian Fighter Jets." These include Abingo Distributors Limited, United Engine Corporation, United Aircraft Corporation and Rostec. The US has also tightened restrictions on Tactical Missiles Corporation, mentioned in the NAKO report.
According to the US Treasury, Russia and China are creating regional clearing platforms for cross-border cashless payments for sensitive goods. The scheme's participants are Russian financial institutions and Chinese companies — a total of 15 legal entities and one individual — against whom restrictions have been imposed.
The Kyrgyz Keremet Bank, through which Russia paid for imported goods and received payments for exports, was also sanctioned. The sanctions evasion scheme was implemented in at least the summer of 2024 in coordination with Russian officials and the sanctioned Promsvyazbank, which has been financing Russian military and industrial bases.
